Join the University of Manitoba in celebrating Pride at the Winnipeg Pride Parade on Sunday, June 7. Bring your friends, family – and even your pets – and be part of a vibrant, joyful celebration alongside students, faculty, staff and allies.

I encourage everyone to come out and take part in the Pride Parade—it'll give you enough endorphins to last the entire summer!

Rohan Shanker, UM staff member and Chair of UM Queer

"The Winnipeg community really shows up for the parade, and it's great for the UM community to show up for Winnipeggers," Shanker added. "By being there, we send a clear message to queer students, colleagues, alumni and community members: you are seen, valued and celebrated.”

UM is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive learning and working environment for all. Our participation in Pride reflects our ongoing allyship and support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Can't join us in Winnipeg?

UM will also attend Pride celebrations in communities across Manitoba this summer.

Stop by to say hello, pick up Bison Pride swag, and show your support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across the province.

The importance of celebrating Pride in rural communities across Manitoba cannot be overstated. These events remind us that queer life exists – and thrives – beyond urban centres.

Tina Chen, vice-provost (equity)

Chen noted, "By showing up, we counter feelings of isolation by celebrating and affirming 2SLGBTQIA+ UM faculty, staff, alumni, and students (current and prospective) who live in rural areas. By showing up, we can foster connection, strengthen community, centre human dignity, and demonstrate meaningful allyship.”

Whether in Winnipeg or communities across Manitoba, there are many opportunities this summer to connect, celebrate and show your Pride with UM. We hope to see you there.
