A place among Canada's leaders

The CWUR is one of the world's largest academic ranking systems, assessing universities based on quality of education, employability, faculty achievement and research performance.

“We are a university that's on the move - this result reflects our continued strength as Manitoba's only research-intensive university and contributions to discovery, innovation and student success,” says Mario Pinto, Vice-President (Research and International).  “This recognition reflects the outstanding work of our faculty who have rallied around a new Strategic Research Plan."

Recognition across multiple rankings

The CWUR results are the latest in a series of strong performances for UM in international rankings.

Earlier this year, Times Higher Education ranked the university among Canada's leading institutions, while ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects recognized several UM disciplines among the best in the world. Food Science and Technology ranked second in Canada and 45th globally, highlighting UM's international leadership in agriculture, food security and health research.

Together, these results reflect the breadth of expertise across the university and the growing impact of UM research on the global stage.
