New Student Experience Advisory Group launching this fall

The Vice-Provost (Students) is launching the UM Student Experience Advisory Group this fall, providing a dedicated forum for students to share their perspectives and ideas for enhancing the student experience, with UM leadership.

Group members will provide advice and feedback on various initiatives, programs, services, policies, and emerging issues that affect students throughout their educational journey.

The Group will operate in an advisory capacity to the Vice-Provost (Students) and will not replace any existing student governance bodies or formal decision-making authorities within UM.

“Delivering an exceptional student experience is a priority at the University of Manitoba. By working together with students and colleagues across UM, we strive to create a supportive and inclusive community where all students can thrive. This new advisory group will provide an important avenue for students to help shape that experience directly,” states Laurie Schnarr, Vice-Provost (Students), University of Manitoba.

Chaired by the Vice-Provost (Students), the Group will consist of up to 15 currently registered UM student members, who have successfully competed through an application process for the opportunity to serve. 

In-person meetings will be held twice in the Fall Term and twice in the Winter Term, with opportunity for additional consultation where appropriate. Members are expected to commit to a minimum of one academic year.
