Meet the 2026 Postdoctoral 3MP competition winners

Three University of Manitoba postdoctoral fellows were recognized for their ability to communicate complex research in a clear and concise way.

Held September 18, the annual competition challenged postdoctoral fellows to showcase the significance of their research in a way that was engaging and easy for everyone to understand, in just three minutes and one static slide.

This years award recipients were: 

  • First Place - Dr. Michael Reaume, Applied Health Sciences
  • Second Place - Dr. Abu Bakar Siddik, Physiology and Pathophysiology
  • Third Place and People’s Choice - Dr. Oluwatoyosi (Lisa) Adaramodu, Biological Sciences

The event also marked the kick-off to Postdoc Appreciation Week, celebrating the contributions of postdoctoral fellows and recognizing the important role they play in advancing research, innovation and knowledge across the university.

Explaining years of research in just three minutes, using only one slide, is no small challenge. It takes focus, clarity, creativity, and confidence. This year’s competition featured six postdoctoral challengers representing disciplines across the university, including Biological Sciences, Plant Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Community Health Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, and Physiology and Pathophysiology.

 

Meet the Challengers 

The 3MP is modelled after the University of Manitoba’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT©) competition and provides postdoctoral scholars with an opportunity to showcase their research while advancing their communication skills.
