Rethink your daily commute by taking part in two popular summer sustainability events, Commuter Challenge and Bike to Work Day. These long-standing events celebrate active and sustainable methods of travel and encourage UM students, staff and faculty to try new ways to get to campus.
Commuter Challenge
Already commuting sustainability or just looking for a reason to get started? Join the Commuter Challenge May 31 to June 6.
Transportation is the second-largest contributor to campus greenhouse gas emissions, and how we commute each day plays a big role. This week-long challenge invites members of the UM community to try active and sustainable ways of getting to campus while making a positive impact together.
Whether you ride, walk, roll, carpool, or work from home, every sustainable commute counts. To participate, sign in or register for a free account on GoManitoba and join the UM Team. Log your kilometers throughout the week to see how your trips add up and be automatically entered to win prizes!
For more information, including a step-by-step guide to participation, prize list, bingo card and additional resources, visit Green Action Centre's website leading up to the challenge.

Bike to Work Day

Stop by the UM pit stop, co-hosted by the Office of Sustainability, Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, UMSU and UMCycle Bike Kiosk, for snacks, refreshments, and a chance to win prizes. If you need a quick tune-up or minor repair, UMCycle is offering free on-site support.
The pit stops are a great way to connect with other bike commuters and celebrate active modes of transportation. You can find more great stops along the way by checking out the Bike to Work Day Pit Stop Map.
