Make sure your Aurora account is up-to-date

Take a moment to ensure that your personal information in Aurora is current and to accept your user agreement.

With registration for Fall and Winter terms around the corner, this is a great time to ensure that your Aurora account is up-to-date. 

Aurora is the hub for all your personal student information: the courses you are registered in, your grades, your financial statements, your scholarship application, and much more. For a smoother registration season and academic year, take a moment to ensure that your personal information is current and correct and to accept your Aurora user agreement.

Personal information

Aurora is not only central to student, it is the hub for all your personal information. It is important to make sure that your personal information is correct and current in Aurora to so that UM can reach you with important information when necessary. The following pieces of personal information can be reviewed and updated using the 'Personal Information' card in Aurora:

  • Phone number. Some correspondence from UM is made by phone or letter mail, so ensuring your contact information is current and valid.
  • Mailing address.
  • Emergency contact information. Up-to-date emergency contact information allows UM to contact the appropriate person in case of emergency.
  • Preferred name. Staff and instructors usually see you by the preferred (chosen) name listed in your student record, and you can get an updated Photo ID card using your preferred name.

Additionally, the following pieces of personal information can be updated using their own distinct cards in Aurora.

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN). The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has made it mandatory for UM to collect students' SINs, and this information is required to produce T2202 (Tuition and Enrolment Certificate) tax forms. Use the 'Verify my SIN' card.
  • Canadian Indigenous ancestry. UM is committed to Indigenous Achievement and to ensuring the success of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students and graduates. If you have not previously declared your ancestry or want to change your response, use the 'Canadian Indigenous Self Declaration' card.
  • Legal name. The University uses your full legal name on its records, transcripts, and on graduation documents. In the event that you need to request a change to your legal name in UM's systems, use the 'Legal Name Change Request' card in Aurora.

Aurora user agreement

In order to use Aurora, you must agree to the terms of usage. You will be prompted to accept these terms on your first login, as well as each year prior to the start of Fall and Winter term registration.

The user agreement outlines key responsibilities as a UM student and an Aurora user, such as ensuring your personal information is up to date, that you are checking your UM student email regularly, ensuring you are aware of the fees applicable to your program of study, and more. It also invites First Nations, Métis and Inuit to declare Indigenous ancestry using the 'Canadian Indigenous Self Declaration' card in Aurora.

You must agree to these terms of usage each year to access your Aurora account. The full text of the Aurora user agreement can be found on the Aurora webpage.
