Get your photo ID on Fort Garry campus

Students can get their UM photo ID at the pop-up ID centre on Fort Garry campus over the first weeks of term.

Your student ID card is one of the first things you should get after you register for courses. It includes your photo and student number, and it gives access to many important campus services.

You will use your student ID card for services such as UM libraries, your bus pass, the Active Living Centre, exams, meal plans, and access to some campus buildings and doors.

Getting your card is easy: visit the Photo ID Centre, join the virtual queue, and wait for a text message letting you know when it is your turn. When you arrive, staff will confirm your identity and eligibility, take your photo, record your signature and print your student ID card on site.

For the start of term, new students can get their card at the pop-up Photo ID Centre in Room 102B, UMSU University Centre.

Dates: August 27 to September 11

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

 

How to prepare for getting your ID card

  • Join the virtual queue.
  • Watch for a text message telling you when staff are ready to serve you.
  • Have your student number ready.
  • Bring government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, driver's license, status card, or permanent resident card.
  • Bring your study permit if you are an international student.

Tip: Get your card early to avoid longer wait times during the first weeks of classes.
