The 2026 Ma thèse en 180 secondes Competition Returns

The University of Manitoba is thrilled to announce the 2026 Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) competition.

The University of Manitoba is thrilled to announce the 2026 Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) competition. Inspired by the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) created by the University of Queensland, the French-language MT180 was launched in 2012 by Acfas (Association francophone pour le savoir). The MT180 competition is more than just a contest—it's a vital platform for the Francophone community within the university.

This high-stakes, French-language competition challenges graduate students to step out of the lab and onto the stage, translating their sophisticated research into a clear, engaging narrative for a non-specialized audience.

This year’s cohort represents the cutting edge of research across a wide spectrum of disciplines. Our 2026 finalists include:

  • Dario Lorenzoni - Department of Physics and Astronomy
  • Samuel Barrett - Computer Science
  • Tatiana Tomas Zahhar - Biosystems Engineering
  • Lauren Peters - Biological Sciences
  • Fazia Ait Zenati - Immunology
  • Iris Taugourdeau - Pharmacology and Therapeutics
  • Si Nhat Nguyen - Food and Human Nutritional Sciences
  • Krysta Alexson - Indigenous Studies
  • Liam Zamora – Chemistry
  • Rebecca Pagès - Microbiology

The University of Manitoba community and the general public are invited to cheer on these brilliant researchers.
