Road closures will limit access to campus on Father's Day weekend

Manitoba Marathon events will take place at the Fort Garry campus on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, 2026, affecting student access to campus. There will be road closures, and the City of Winnipeg will be rerouting bus traffic.

The runner’s safety is the highest priority for the organizers, and many streets surrounding the university and the wider city will be closed. To help minimize traffic congestion and ensure participant safety, the University strongly encourages members of the campus community, including students, to avoid the area during event hours (4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) where possible.

During Marathon events, campus access and parking will be restricted

In collaboration with the Manitoba Marathon organizers, special measures have been established to manage access to the Fort Garry campus and ensure the safety of all participants. Parking on campus will be restricted on race day and limited to individuals with a special permit. These permits are intended to support staff who must be on-site to perform essential operational duties and respond to emergencies.
