The Open Horizons Symposium is a two-day event with panels, discussions and talks by leaders in open education in Canada. The event is hosted at the University of Manitoba and online, and is open to faculty, instructors, students and open education advocates in Manitoba and beyond.

Open education is a movement that promotes free and open access to educational resources, tools, and practices to reduce barriers to learning. Read more about open education at UM.

 

The symposium offers a dynamic environment to explore and advance conversations on open education, affordability, accessibility, and digital innovation – key areas shaping the future of learning. This two‑day event brings together diverse voices from across Manitoba and beyond to share emerging practices, strengthen cross‑institutional partnerships, and inspire collective action to expand educational opportunities for all Manitobans.

Early bird pricing is open until May 8, 2026 at 11:59 PM CDT and is $37.50 for a day or $75 for both days. Ticket sales will remain open until June 1, 2026.

Open Horizons is organized by Campus Manitoba, Assiniboine College, RRC Polytech, the University of Winnipeg, and the University of Manitoba.
