Manitoba's largest science and engineering festival, Science Rendezvous, is back Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Manitoba, Fort Garry campus.
The theme this year is Ignite. Time to gather friends, family and kindle your excitement, spark some joy, fuel your curiosity and feel the magic of science! This year, there are more than 60 booths for people of all ages to discover.
If your smallest scientist loves rockets, they can build rockets, hit targets and get a "Rocket Scientist" badge, the Human-Computer Interaction research group is excited to showcase its robots using fun demonstrations, games and hands-on learning, or maybe you want to stop by "Atomic Curiosities", where they use uranium glass, a Geiger counter and UV flashlights to explain how radioactivity works.
The event is free for all to attend. People do have to register for free tickets to the Chemistry, Physics, Planetarium shows and a new exciting show by the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre on Eventbrite. Tickets are available half an hour before each show.
